With these emotional words Lady Gaga opened her world tour, which had been long and eagerly awaited by tens of thousands of fans, after the break forced by the corona pandemic – in Düsseldorf, at MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA. The sold-out opening concert of her “The Chromatica Ball” tour was the only one in Germany, one of five in Europe, one of 20 worldwide. As a novelty, D.LIVE acted as local promoter for Californian entertainment giant Live Nation for the first time and was thus responsible for the entire organisation and implementation on site.
The only concert in Germany
Lady Gaga presented her “The Chromatica Ball” world tour in a limited series of exclusive open air performances worldwide in only 14 arenas. The world premiere and only concert in Germany was held at MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA on 17 July 2022. The tour then continued in cities such asStockholm, Paris, London, Toronto, New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
D.LIVE as local organiser
For the first time, D.LIVE acted as local organiser for Live Nation. D.LIVE was therefore not only the landlord of the arena, but also responsible for the entire organisation and implementation of the world premiere on site. Admission and security management, marketing and ticketing as well as technology and staff placement were coordinated and controlled by D.LIVE.
Finally LIVE again
After months of silence and uncertainty throughout the event industry, it was an enormous team effort to bring this outstanding artist to Düsseldorf for her world tour’s opening concert. This has given the industry a new lease of life! It was simply incredible to realise a concert of this magnitude in the difficult post-pandemic period!
