A new chapter is about to begin for the live entertainment industry: today marks the start of the very first year of the “Bachelor of Live Entertainment & Event Management” programme, developed in collaboration between D.LIVE and Fresenius University of Applied Sciences. Twenty-two motivated students have been enrolled – a strong indication of the great demand for a practical, academic education in one of the most dynamic industries of our time.
Knowing, what live entertainment is all about.
The online study programme, with one week of attendance per semester in Düsseldorf, combines academic expertise with hands-on practical experience. In the first week, students can already look forward to an inspiring first week at the D.LIVE venues – including the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA and the PSD BANK DOME – as well as on the campus of Fresenius University of Applied Sciences. The week will be officially opened by the patron of the programme,MayorDr Stephan Keller, who will personally welcome the students.
In addition to fundamental insights into live entertainment, keynotes and workshops with top speakers from the industry are already on the agenda for the first week. Participants include Jana Posth and Marc Seemann from PRK DreamHouse, Björn Gralla and Hendrik Czaster from CONTRA PROMOTION, Stephan Thanscheidt from FKP Scorpio, Tim Heuer from Barclays Arena Hamburg, Johannes Everke from BDKV and René Tumler from EVVC.
Learn. Experience. Network.
To ensure that the kick-off is not only educational but also builds up connections, exciting networking highlights are planned – from an informal get-together at the Düsseldorf Brauhaus to an atmospheric sunset session at the 25hours Hotel. This will create a strong network among the participants from day one – and perhaps the collaboration of tomorrow.
"The fact that we are able to launch the first degree programme of its kind in Germany today is a milestone for the entire industry. With over 20 students already enrolled, together with Fresenius University of Applied Sciences, we have clearly struck a nerve. We are overwhelmed with this response and can't wait to get started with the next generation of industry professionals, ‘says Michael Brill, CEO of D.LIVE.
“Düsseldorf is not only a city of events and sport, but also a place for innovative educational pathways. The new bachelor's degree programme sends a strong signal to the live entertainment industry and all young people who want to shape their future in this world. D.LIVE and the state capital of Düsseldorf offer an excellent network within the industry and with various players beyond, making it exactly the right place for this programme. I am delighted to welcome the students in person today and wish them a successful start to their studies," adds Dr Stephan Keller, Mayor of the state capital of Düsseldorf.
